Diljit Dosanjh is currently in the headlines over the controversy of his film "Sardaar Ji 3" and cast of Pakistani artist Hania Amir in the film.
While many have criticised the actor for casting the Pakistani artist in the film after the Pahalgam attack, some people in the industry have backed the Punjabi singer and came out in his support.
Notably, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has demanded to ban Diljit Dosanjh, producer Guneet Singh Sidhu, Manmord Sidhu, and director Amar Hundal from the industry, calling them "traitors."
FWICE has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to seize the passports of these four and revoke their Indian citizenship.
Diljit Dosanjh's ex-manager backs Diljit Dosanjh
Diljit Dosanjh's ex-manager, Sonali Singh, came out in support of Diljit Dosanjh amid backlash for appearing in a film that features Pakistani actor Hania Amir.
Jasbir Jassi, Rakhi Sawant also came out in support
Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi has now shared his opinion on this entire controversy, supporting Diljit Dosanjh. Jasbir Jassi said, "They are protesting just because there is a Pakistani artist in their film, okay let's accept this is patriotism and I appreciate your patriotism, but do you know that 80 percent of songs in our country are Pakistani? Sometimes music was stolen, sometimes lyrics, sometimes entire songs were taken, or sung by Pakistani singers. Now tell me, what will we do about those songs?"
Jasbir Jassi also said - "If you want to ban, then delete all Pakistani songs from YouTube and Spotify. If you want to ban, ban everything, not like you've just started opposing one artist?"
Rakhi Sawant also supported Diljit Dosanjh
Rakhi Sawant has also come out in support of Diljit Dosanjh. Taking to her Instagram handle, Rakhi shared a glimpse of Diljit and Hania from the film. She called Hania her “sweetheart" and congratulated her for stepping into Bollywood.
Also, she shared a post where she said that everyone should watch this movie.
'Sardaar Ji 3' film gets Pakistani media support
The film "Sardaar Ji 3" with Hania Amir is set to release on June 27. The film has been banned in India, and Diljit faces sedition charges. Meanwhile, Pakistani TV presenter Nadia Khan praised Hania Amir after watching film's trailer.
She said, ''Hania Amir and Diljit Dosanjh's film is finally releasing after many rumours and controversies. Amid India-Pakistan tension, it was said that the film should be re-shot as a Pakistani actress cannot be in the film.
The makers, the actor, and everyone involved are Sikhs who fear no one, and I admire their strategy. They stayed silent, didn’t respond to speculation, and let people believe Hania had been removed. Diljit Dosanjh also stayed quiet. Now that the trailer is out, Hania is everywhere. Meanwhile, in India, there are calls to ban the film, and Diljit is being labeled a traitor.''
